Back to HP forum 4 total posts. Why can’t you uninstall it beforehand? I am using a mono laser printer HP which I’ve had for years and it is still working so 500c keep persevering with it.
The HP website has instructions that are not clear to me.
If you have an extra WinXP license you are not using you could dual boot. If you’re asking for technical 510c, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem.
This all in one is both a flatbed and sheet fed scanner, copier, printer, fax.

This is what I have: I have been searching to give you additional info about 510c0 scanner. I couldn’t find installation software for Win Pro anywhere on the HP website; only updates or patches. Its convoluted, but that is the way I had to deal with it. I did not use and of HP’s software.
Track this discussion and email me when there are updates. Just below the lines you were reading at the end of HP’s instructions: I was looking all around at one point for drivers for either XP, or Win2K, but each time the silly HP site kept telling me to look 510c the upgrade instructions which do not work on a Native XP, or Win2K install.
Have you maybe tried one or both ways? No problem though, that was my job before retiring. Take it from the top and try to reinstall. Of course the versions that were bundled were at the end of service life at the time.

The problem is that you do have to do those things for the 55100c software to work effectively, and it is a shame. BB code is on. After browsing through all sorts of sites, blogs, etc, I have come to the conclusion that the C just won’t work with Windows 7, and as I suspected, I will have to buy a new scanner that will be compatible. The unit came with a lite version of Paperport First the only thing on LPT1 is the scanner. The only way it works correctly is with a full upgrade from either Windows 98, or Windows NT 4. This is what I have: 55100c let Windows Xp install.
I can’t justify buying those same programs for the little I sue them. Jim T Queensland Aust.
